About Us

Our Beliefs
Beliefs Become Truths

We help families and professionals build financial plans that work for real life—the goals you're working toward, the uncertainties you're planning around, and the future you're trying to create. This means understanding where you are, listening to what matters to you, and developing strategies you can actually follow through on.

How We Work With You

Financial planning isn't something you do once and forget about. Your life changes—new jobs, growing families, shifting priorities—and your plan needs to keep up. We build long-term relationships with our clients because that's how we deliver the best advice. We get to know your situation deeply enough to anticipate what's coming and adjust before small issues become bigger ones. You're not just another account; you're someone we're committed to helping over the years and decades.

Independent Advice

We're an independent firm, which means we're not pressured to recommend proprietary products or meet sales quotas for a parent company. Our recommendations are based on what actually makes sense for your situation. This independence lets us stay focused on one thing: helping you make progress toward your goals. When we suggest an investment, an insurance policy, or a planning strategy, it's because we believe it's the right fit for you.

Our Roots

We're based in Chicago, and many of our clients are right here in Chicagoland. But we work with families nationwide who value the kind of relationship-focused advice we provide. Our name comes from the maplewood trees—strong, reliable, and built to weather the seasons. That's how we think about financial planning: putting down roots, growing steadily, and adapting as conditions change. We're here for the long term, helping you build something that lasts.

Meet Kevin Sullivan

Meet Kevin Sullivan

I've been working in financial services for 20 years, but my interest in how money works started much earlier than that. In sixth grade, I started a paper route in Peoria, Illinois. I loved having my own money and the freedom to decide what to do with it. After a couple of years of putting everything into a savings account, I got curious about whether there was a better way to make my money grow. That whole experience taught me something important: building wealth takes discipline and a genuine curiosity about how assets actually work.

I studied Marketing and Small Business Management at Illinois State University, where I also played Division I sports. Being an athlete taught me about discipline, preparation, and the importance of having a game plan—lessons that translate directly to financial planning. Even now, fitness is one of the most important parts of my life. It keeps me grounded and reminds me that long-term success is about consistency, not shortcuts.

These days, most of my time outside of work is spent with my family—my twin boys, my daughter, and the friends who've become family over the years. I'm also involved with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Lawrence Hall. I started fundraising for St. Jude years ago after watching friends deal with cancer. Helping eliminate childhood cancer feels like one of the most important things any of us can do. Lawrence Hall works with children and teenagers who've experienced significant trauma and homelessness, and I donate and help raise money for their programs whenever I can.

Peoria taught me to work hard and treat people the way I would want to be treated. That's still how I approach every client relationship—with respect, honesty, and a genuine commitment to helping you reach your goals.
